Blue PRO™ cost-effectively meets any phosphorus permit level, down to <0.020 mg/L. This process uses an uplift sand filter modified to become an ion exchange vessel. Utilizing a minimum of ferric chloride or ferric sulfate, in the sand medium, this process coats each grain. The phosphorous and heavy metal react with the iron for a strong one-to-one chemical bond that is chaffed off into the reject stream. This proprietary process sends the rejects to the front of the bio plant were the iron reacts to the waste solids without breaking the bond with the nutrients. The results are the rejects become part of the waste solids. This procedure causes a reduction in nutrients in the waste stream (typically lowering the phosphorous level that enters the uplift sand filter. This cycle will provide phosphorous reduction in levels of 2-3 parts per billion. Metals will react in similar ways. To reduce nitrates, carbon is added to the process. The end results is we meet and exceed existing permits levels (reduction). Our cost per pound of phosphorous removal is less than $4 compared to $24 by our competition. |
